The Bayard Volunteer Fire Department accepted delivery of a new fire truck in mid-March. The 2007 International truck was built by Toyne Fire Service in Breda at a cost of $199,000. It features a 1,250 gallon tank. Posing in front of the new vehicle after fighting a grass fire recently are, from the left, Fire Chief Bill Patrick, Tim Jurgens, Tom Bates, Darin Lloyd, Shaylon and Mark Bonney, Don Carrick and Tom Vaux. "We are grateful to the township trustees who agreed to the increase in taxation to pay for the truck," said Chief Patrick. "It's an investment in their future and for the protection of the Bayard community."
