History
Sheryl Bielenberg tells the story of the Hall of Pride's creation -- When the school building was closed and we learned that most everything in the building would be sold we decided that we wanted to save what we could and keep it. We then asked for permission to walk through the school to see what we would like to keep, gave that list to the school board. I don't remember how this came about but it was decided this should be a Bayard Betterment Foundation project. As I was president I called several people asked if they were interested in helping with this, 10 people said they would, I tried to get equal number of men and women and different ages. We have 6 men and 4 women. So, we needed money and had our first fund raiser which was a breakfast and they started writing some grants and asking for donations, and after that it was many hours of meetings and work. So I guess in a nut shell it was some graduates from Bayard High School who wanted to keep their school alive somehow and were willing to work for it.
